What I do

Performing

I’m a pianist specialising in the improvised live-scoring of silent film. I work solo and in a variety of collaborations, including as a founder member of Frame Ensemble.

Researching

My music PhD investigates the practice of improvised silent film accompaniment, and I continue to research both contemporary and historic accompaniment practices.

Producing

I’m the Artistic Director of Northern Silents, the UK’s leading producer and presenter of live-scored silent film.
